Control panel?
What's that?

Is
there a manual I can follow?
Yes, there is a
client
user and a
domain user manual
How do I access the control panel?
Go to https://<yourweb>.com:8443 and enter your control panel username and password.
Since control panel access is SSL encrypted, you need to make sure that you use https:// instead of http://
.
What is a domain user?
How do I set one up?
A domain user has control panel access for just their domain. Unlike the client username which has control panel access for all of a customer's domains. Domain users are useful when you want to let someone else administer
their own domains.
Here are the steps to create a domain user:
Log in to your control panel.
Select the domain name that you are going to change.
Click on DOMAIN USERS.
Check the box next to "Allow domain user access".
Enter the new password and confirmation.
Click UPDATE.
A domain user can perform the following:
change the password for FTP access or email access
create/modify/delete POP3 email accounts
create/modify/delete email redirects
create/modify/delete mail groups (redirects to multiple addresses)
create/modify/delete auto responders and vacation replies
configure a catch-all address (global mail drop)
set up web users
password protect directories
generate and install SSL certificates
setup and maintain a MySQL database
How do
you change the password for a domain user?
Log in to your control panel.
Select the domain name that you which to apply the change to.
Click on DOMAIN USERS.
Enter the new password and confirmation.
Click on UPDATE.
Ok,
How do I change the password for my control panel?
Log in to your control panel.
Click on EDIT.
Enter the new password and confirmation.
Click on UPDATE.
(If you forgot or lost your control panel password, we can reset it for you.)
How
do I come up with hard-to-crack passwords?
Passwords should be 8-14 characters in length. The most secure type of password includes a combination of upper and lower case letters, along with numbers and
symbols, nonsensical like 5Xe%h24...that one would be hard to hack.
Try to avoid using common words in English or other languages, as well as obvious things like your name,
relative's names and other words that might be easily guessed/cracked by an unauthorized user.
Best not to use the following for passwords:
a person's name i.e. yourself, spouse, children, relatives, friends, etc.
your birthday
your Social Security Number, telephone number, address, etc.
numeric sequences, i.e. "1234"
words spelled backwards
passwords that are the same as your username or test, guest, administrator, bla
bla.
Can you send me my password if I lose it?
We don't even know what it is because it's encrypted, but we can make a new
temporary one and you can go in and set a permanent one. Just email
webmaster@grendl.net
and we will send it to the Primary email address listed on the
account.
